Why We Need To Practice Gratitude Every Day
Too often, we are our worst critics. The road to being our best selves is often paved with a lot of insecurities, comparing ourselves with other people and in effect, putting ourselves down especially when we feel like we’ve encountered a roadblock. But if we take a moment to reexamine our journey, we’ll find that there are so many things to be grateful for every day.
So let’s stop for a bit and remind ourselves of a few things we might overlook in the daily hustle:
We have more than enough.
Whenever we wake up with a roof over our heads, and have a warm meal on our table, let’s take a moment to savour the moment. Oftentimes, we tend to take these things for granted. So let’s count our blessings and be grateful for what we currently have.
We are loved and supported.
At times, we may feel alone in our struggles. But when we look around the room, we’ll find ourselves surrounded by peers or loved ones who will always be in our corner rooting for us. Take the time to pause and let them know you appreciate their presence. Leave a favourite coworker a note, or go out for an afternoon treat with a friend. You’ll find yourself energised and ready to work again.
We are women of worth.
Whenever we face harsh criticism, or at times, discrimination, let’s remind ourselves that we are women of worth. We are strong and have come a long way to be where we are right now. Let’s be thankful for the struggles that we’ve overcome, allowing us to grow and bloom.
We are making progress.
Small progress is still progress. Every step counts. We might not always feel the effects of our efforts, or reach our goals soon enough. But the people we’ve touched and uplifted along the way make everything worth it. Celebrate your progress. Be grateful for the experience.
There’s always something to be grateful for every day.
We sometimes fall into the trap of focusing too much on the things we lack, that we forget to appreciate the things that we already have. Practicing gratitude daily can help us refocus our energy, and invite positivity in everything we do.
